Shan Saute Tofu (ပဲျပားေၾကာ္)

This tofu dish is a Shan food usually serve as a side dish. Serve with rice accompanying with some meat or fish as a main dish and some vegetable soup.

Ingredients (2 servings)
1 block tofu
1/2 head medium onion
3 gloves garlic
1/2  medium of tomato
A little turmeric powder
1 Tablespoon of vegetable oil
1 Teaspoon of salt
A few coriander to garnish

First of all, take the tofu out of the pack and cover with kitchen paper let it sit  for 30 minutes to drain the water. 
1. Prepare the onion by chopping it into very finely, smash the garlic and dice the tomato to small piece.

2. Heat the pan with oil, add the turmeric powder in and stir well. Add chopped onion and garlic, stir it until it becomes golden brown.

3. Add  dice tomato and break it lightly.

4. Break the tofu with hand ( or dice it) into small piece and add into the pan seasoning with salt.
  • Stir well and  lid on for 5 minutes. 
  • Keep it until the tofu looks a little dry then its ready to serve. 
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with hot rice and green mustard soup.
