Mochi is a Japanese rice cake which is made from glutinous  rice. Preparation of Mochi starts from steaming the sticky rice which is soaked for overnight. When the rice is cooked, put the rice in a wooden mallet and pound it until becoming sticky and smooth. Commonly Mochi is eaten in a Winter and popular as New Year food. Grilled Mochi is very delicious snack and comfort food in a cold winter day.

Fresh Mochi is definitely the best taste but nowadays it's very hard to find unless you go to some festival. It comes with a ready-made type in a rectangle shape. It's available at Japanese confectionery and you can also find in every supermarket at the rice corner in Japan. The black sesame caramel sauce is a Shan style sauce.
